Get Involved With The Ashland County Park District

There are many ways to get involved with the Ashland County Park District.

The Ashland County park District is run solely by volunteers. These volunteers do everything from mow, maintain trails, lead nature hikes, provide programs, write newsletters, answer questions, run special events, and much, much more. There are several ways to volunteer. The first is to attend the monthly board meeting, held at  new county office complex, the former Heartland Home on State Route 60 south of Ashland.  on the first Monday of every month. (Please see the calendar for dates and time).

Another way to volunteer is to attend a committee meeting for an individual park. The time these meetings are held varies, Please contact a committee chair person for more information. These meetings focus on the needs of the individual parks,  including maintenance and park use regulations (including hunting at some parks).

The next way to help is by volunteering your time to programs within the parks. If you have a skill or knowledge of anything nature, historical, or outdoor  activity , you can be involved in programs in the parks. You may also have ideas to share with the program committee, who designs and schedules the programs for the parks. (See calendar for meetings.)

The final way to volunteer is by joining the Friends of The Ashland County Park District. The Friends mission is to support, promote and further the mission and goals of the Ashland County Park District. For More information about the friends click here . However you choose to volunteer, its a great way to get involved in the community, meet new and interesting people. Your time will provide a great place for generations to enjoy, learn and utilize, as well as conserve the land, habitat and wildlife, and protect it from development, overuse, and abuse.

The Ashland County Park District , has limited resources to utilize for use in the parks. Most of the land was donated or purchased through grants. Most equipment is donated or borrowed and everything is done by volunteers. If you would like to see something made available to the parks, they will happily accept your donation. Any amount will help. There are several way you can help. Donations can be made by check made out to The Ashland County Park District (For maintenance, trails, signs, and general use) Or  to The Friends of The Ashland County Park District ( For programs, special events and special purchases). Donation of items ( for raffles, prizes, or use in the park) would need to be approved by the board. This can be done by contacting us at Ashland County Park District  Telephone: (419) 289-0000 c/o Ashland County Commissioners 110 Cottage Street  Ashland, OH 44805, or attending any meeting.
